Fire and Ice (आग और बर्फ)

Central Idea

The poet has tried to bring the differences between the fire and ice, which represent two different kinds of people. According to the poet, the world can perish by fire and also by ice. Thus it can perish twice-one by fire and then by ice. The poet feels that the ice of hatred is as powerful as the fire of desire to bring complete end of this world.

1. There are many ideas about how the world will ‘end’. Do you think the world will end some day? Have you ever thought what would happen if the sun got so hot that it ‘burst’ or grew colder and colder ? विश्व किस प्रकार समाप्त होगा इसके अनेक विचार हैं। क्या आप सोचते हैं कि विश्व किसी दिन समाप्त हो जायेगा ? क्या कभी आपने सोचा कि यदि सूर्य इतना गर्म हो जाए कि वह फट जाये या इतना ठंडा हो जाये तब क्या होगा ?

Ans. Yes, I do believe that the world is going to end one day. There are definitely many ideas about how the world will end but one can’t say surely how it will end. If the sun gets so hot that it ‘burst’ the whole of the lives on earth would perish straight way conversely if it grows colder and colder it would bring back the ‘ICE AGE’ which would end the world too.
